Suggested One Day Itinerary

Ta Prohm, Tanei,  Preah Khan, Angkor Thom, Angkor Wat

We suggest meeting at your hotel at 5.30am, getting away before dawn in order to visit the jungle-entwined temple Ta Prohm. Sunrise is one of the most beautiful and haunting times to visit this temple whose ancient sandstone blocks are gilded gold by the early morning rays. We then move on to Tanei temple just 10 min away. This is a Buddhist temple built in late 12th  century which has remained largely untouched by restoration efforts. We move on to visit the Preah Khan temple (literally meaning “Sacred Sword”), and the Bayon temple in Angkor Thom. After taking some time to have lunch and relax, we visit the largest religious monument in the world, the Angkor Wat temple.

It is believed the vase in front was used as crematorium to burn dead people. We then move on to visit East Mebon, plus the most beautiful temple, Banteay Srei (Lady temple). In the afternoon, we Explore Ta Som temple, and move on to visit the Neak Pean temple which is believed to have had curative power. We finish the day with a tour of the Bayon temple in Angkor Thom.

After breakfast, we take the one hour and half trip to Beng Mealea, overgrown by jungle. It’s often called the Indiana Jones temple. The famous movie ”Two Brothers” was filmed there with the tigers walking on the roof of the temple. In the afternoon, we venture out to visit the oldest group of Angkor temples, comprising the three major temples: Preah Ko, Bakong and Lo Lei.

Day 4: Tonle Sap lake, City tour

After breakfast, we head for the Jetty, located 30 min away, where we’ll take a private boat to visit Chong Kneas floating village where a few hundred families of fishermen live at Tonle Sap lake, one of the biggest lakes in South East Asia. You stay on the boat, while we take you round the floating houses, school, shop, church, police station, fish and crocodiles farms, all floating on boats, bamboo or oil drums. On the way back, we stop to visit the Old Market at Artisan Angkor school.
